The role of an E-commerce Accounting & Compliance Specialist involves managing the financial operations and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards within an e-commerce environment. This position requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and e-commerce business models. The individual will oversee various financial tasks, including managing accounts, handling audits, implementing compliance measures, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. As businesses continue to expand online, the E-commerce Accounting & Compliance Specialist ensures that the financial health and regulatory compliance of the company are maintained, fostering trust and transparency with stakeholders.


Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department related to e-commerce.
  • Develop and maintain strong financial controls to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Coordinate and complete annual audits, providing information and answers to auditors.
  • Implement and maintain e-commerce compliance policies and procedures across the organization.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure necessary measures are taken to mitigate financial risks.
  • Oversee tax compliance and filings, ensuring adherence to local and international tax laws.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment with financial goals and compliance needs.
  • Monitor and report on key financial performance indicators and metrics.
  • Research and implement relevant accounting software to enhance financial tracking and reporting.
  • Stay updated on industry trends related to e-commerce accounting and compliance regulations.
  • Provide training and support to staff on financial compliance and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Proven experience in accounting and financial management, preferably in e-commerce.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements for e-commerce businesses.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and tools, such as QuickBooks or Xero.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to manage complex financial data.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with various departments and stakeholders.
