Job Description

The Financial Controller is a pivotal figure in the finance team, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and accuracy of financial activities within an organization. This role requires a highly analytical and strategically minded individual capable of overseeing financial operations, reporting, and compliance. A Financial Controller must collaborate closely with executive management to steer the financial planning and analysis within the company and maintain sound corporate governance and practices. Being detail-oriented and possessing a strong understanding of financial regulations and accounting standards are crucial. A Financial Controller not only manages the financial reporting process but also plays an essential role in budgeting, forecasting, and financial strategy formulation to support the company’s long-term financial goals.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the finance department, ensuring efficient financial management.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to improve workflow.
  • Prepare timely and detailed reports on financial performance on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Manage the preparation of the company’s budget and financial forecasts.
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and prepare internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements.
  • Advise management on long-term business and financial planning strategies.
  • Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Maintain an accurate cash flow forecast that offers clarity into current and future financial standings.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and legislation, such as adherence to tax regulations.
  • Lead and manage the finance team, providing mentorship and career development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a senior financial managerial position.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations and accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS).
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to assess complex financial data.
