Job Description

A Procurement Engineer plays a pivotal role in managing and coordinating the procurement processes for engineering and construction projects. This role involves assessing different suppliers, negotiating terms, and ensuring that purchases are made in a cost-effective manner without compromising on quality. The Procurement Engineer ensures that all components meet the required standards and specifications and that they are delivered within the project schedule. They collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and vendors to streamline procurement operations and maintain robust relationships with suppliers. Meticulous, strategic decision-making and the ability to adapt to dynamic market conditions are vital in succeeding in this role.


Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, price, and delivery capabilities.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure advantageous purchase agreements.
  • Develop procurement strategies aligned with business objectives and project requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers and engineers to assess product specifications and project requirements.
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure continuous improvement in cost, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Ensure all procurement processes are adhered to and documented according to company policy.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends and propose improvements in procurement strategies.
  • Monitor delivery schedules and resolve any issues or delays with suppliers promptly.
  • Prepare detailed reports on procurement activities and supplier performance for management review.
  • Maintain updated records of purchased products, delivery information, and invoices.
  • Liaise with legal, inventory, and accounts departments to resolve discrepancies in contracts and payments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is required.
  • Proven experience as a Procurement Engineer or in a similar procurement role.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to develop strategic supplier relationships.
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement practices within the engineering and construction sectors.
  • Excellent organizational and project management capabilities.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools, including ERP systems.
