The American University of Sharjah invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Sustainable Construction. The successful candidate will lead advanced research efforts focused on low-carbon concrete, geopolymer systems, and the application of artificial intelligence for optimizing infrastructure in climate-resilient urban environments. The role aims to support the UAE’s low-carbon development objectives by developing innovative construction materials and integrating cutting-edge AI and machine learning techniques for design and lifecycle optimization.
Requirements
– PhD in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related discipline.
– Proven expertise in concrete mechanics, low-carbon materials, and structural testing.
– Strong publication record in reputable journals and conferences.
– Proficiency in advanced experimental techniques for concrete durability and strength assessment.
– Familiarity with methods such as chloride ingress, carbonation, and heat/humidity exposure studies.
– Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary research teams.
– Effective mentorship skills for supporting graduate students.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
– Experience in sustainable construction practices for hot, humid, and coastal environments.
– Knowledge of recycled aggregates and seawater-based systems.
– Proficiency in AI/ML tools for infrastructure optimization.
– Ability to manage and analyze large datasets related to materials and environmental conditions.
