Job Description

Position Summary

The Postdoctoral Fellow will work on the design, synthesis, modification, and characterization of Co/FePc electrocatalysts for the hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions (HER and OER) in seawater electrolyte. The project will involve a combination of material synthesis and characterization, as well as electrochemical testing in both three-electrode and two-electrode setups.

Job Responsibilities

  • Synthesis and Functionalization: Design and synthesize Co/FePc electrocatalysts, optimizing their structure and composition for enhanced electrochemical performance in seawater splitting.
  • Catalyst Characterization: Use advanced characterization techniques (X-ray diffraction, XPS, SEM, RAMAN, FTIR, etc.) to analyze the physicochemical properties of the catalysts.
  • Electrochemical Evaluation: Conduct electrochemical measurements, including cyclic voltammetry (CV), linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), to assess the electrocatalytic activity and stability in seawater.
  • Two-Electrode-Based Setup: Contribute to the development and optimization of seawater electrolysis conditions.
  • Collaboration and Reporting: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, prepare technical reports, publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, and present at conferences.

Qualifications And Skills Required

  • PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (PhD obtained within the last three years is preferable).
  • Strong background in electrocatalysis and catalyst synthesis, such as transition metal complexes like phthalocyanines.
  • Proficiency in electrochemical techniques (HER/OER studies) and material characterization tools (e.g., XRD, SEM, RAMAN, XPS).
  • Proficiency in handling and maintaining laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to prepare reports and manage laboratory documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing supplies and consumables.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a strong publication record.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multidisciplinary research environment

Preferred Qualifications And Skills

  • Experience with seawater electrolysis or water-splitting or battery technologies is an advantage.

How To Apply

  • Interested applicants should fill out the form.
  • AUS alumni are encouraged to apply. Applicants who do not meet specified requirements will not be shortlisted. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
  • AUS is an equal opportunity employer. We adhere to a policy of making employment decisions without regard to race, color, age, gender, religion, national origin, disability or marital status. Opportunities for employment are based solely upon one’s qualifications.
