Job Summary:


Monitoring and ensuring the good level of performance of pharmacy department, ensure pharmacy is meeting the primary needs of all patients, functioning in accordance with MOH regulations, appropriate inventory maintenance function, drug monitoring, monitoring pharmacists daily services such as drug information, education, drug assessment, for patients and medical staff, work as advisory source of hospital medical staff, insures the developments and coordination between the pharmacies and hospital departments, apply policies, procedures and other regulations.


Key Responsibilities:


• Prepare strategic plans, operation plans, manpower plans, and budget for all branches.

• Set policies and procedures for pharmacy department and ensure full implementation in all branches.

• Prepare competency based position description and competency checklists for pharmacists, asst. pharmacist and pharmacy staff.

• Meet the hospital management on a regular basis in order to identify, discuss and resolve the Pharmacy department related issues.

• Monitor pharmacy store purchases, stocks and expiries.

• Contact MOH regarding pharmacies issues, like approvals, inspections reports, pharmaceutical issues, licensing and training issues. Availability and importing of medicines.

• Act as the main source for information about medicines, MOH regulation, and all pharmacy related issues.

• Receive monthly reports prepared by pharmacist in-charges regarding slow moving and nonmoving items, near expiry items for liquidation between branches.

• Evaluate and monitor the pharmacy Staff performance and perform monthly meetings for new updates and work improvements.

• Monitor stock evaluation reports, monthly sales reports of Al Zahra hospital Sharjah.

• Monitor medicines/non-medicines orders of pharmacies to avoid over stocking/expires.

• Held annual inventories with cooperation of Accounts department.

• Contact pharmaceutical companies for replacing damages and/or expired items with cooperation of pharmacy store in-charge.

• Arrange and import the unavailable/non registered medicines from overseas and ensure availability of all lifesaving medications in emergency cases in all branches.

• Coordinate between governmental/ private hospitals to arrange and exchange medicines in urgent cases.

• Arrange schedules of replacements during annual leaves, vacations and emergency between the pharmacies.

• Ensure submission of all reports to the concerned departments of the hospital and coordinate between hospital departments and pharmacy branches.

• Resolve pharmacy problems, financial, administrative and customers complains.

• Regular visits to Al Zahra private hospital Dubai pharmacy.

• Participate in all quality improvement and various accreditation activities in the hospital and ensure that the quality program is effectively implemented.

• Constantly identify pharmacy vacancies, interview, recruit, selecting the best applicants for each position and conduct exit interviews.

• Provide on-the job orientation for newly hired staff and ensures that job descriptions are understood by the staff.

• Responsible to assign acting head of Pharmacy and authorize him/her to act during leave or absence.

• Purchase, dispense, and maintain register for narcotics.

• Submit reports to M.O.H. related to the consumption of controlled drugs.

• Prepare the request of controlled drugs and receiving from M.O.H.

• Maintain interface with medical and nursing staff to provide regular information.

• Evaluate staff compliance with department policy.


Education and Qualifications:


  • Bachelor of pharmacy degree
  • Master Degree or any equivalents in Hospital Pharmacy management (preferable).
  • 10 years of experience in hospital setup
  • MOH / DHA license
