Job Description

A Medical Representative, often referred to as a Med Rep, plays a crucial role in the healthcare sector by acting as a bridge between pharmaceutical companies and healthcare professionals. Their primary goal is to promote and sell their company's products, which can include pharmaceutical drugs or medical equipment. By building and maintaining relationships with healthcare providers, medical representatives help ensure that products are effectively introduced and maintained in the market. The position requires a blend of technical knowledge, sales acumen, and interpersonal skills since representatives need to both understand the products they sell and effectively communicate their benefits to clients. This role not only contributes to the sales goals of a pharmaceutical company but also plays a part in advancing patient outcomes by ensuring the right products reach the right hands.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare professionals and medical staff.
  • Present product information and therapeutic updates to doctors and pharmacists.
  • Identify and target new opportunities to achieve sales growth and market share.
  • Organize and conduct product demonstrations for key stakeholders within hospitals.
  • Attend conferences, workshops, and seminars to stay updated on industry trends.
  • Achieve monthly and annual sales targets set by the sales management team.
  • Prepare detailed sales reports and provide feedback to management about the market.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional activities and campaigns.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of competitor products and market dynamics.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical standards in all interactions.
  • Provide after-sales support by addressing product inquiries from clients promptly.
  • Travel extensively within a set geographical area to meet clients in various locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, or a related field is required.
  • Proven sales experience in the pharmaceutical or medical devices sector preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data to provide actionable sales insights.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within the assigned territory for meetings.
  • Self-motivated with a strong drive to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Proficient in using CRM software and other sales tracking tools effectively.
