Job Description

MAIN OBJECTIVE OF ROLE

To lead the strategic direction of technology in alignment with corporate objectives, the role is responsible for leveraging digital capabilities to drive Revenue, Customer Experience, business agility, and innovation, while identifying emerging technologies, enhancing cross-functional collaboration, and ensuring governance and scalability of IT operations, and championing transformative technologies that deliver competitive advantage and maximize ROI.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drives the strategic direction of IT in alignment with business priorities by developing and maintaining a forward-looking IT strategy aligned with short and long-term business goals. Lead enterprise-wide planning, prioritization, and execution of IT investments.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to ensure IT initiatives directly support growth, efficiency, and customer-centricity, by translating business challenges into IT roadmaps and defining KPIs to track strategic IT contribution to business outcomes.
  • Champions digital enablement initiatives across business units by identifying, co-creating and launching digital transformation programs to enhance Revenue, Customer experience and Operational efficiency, by identifying opportunities for automation, self-service, and intelligent systems across departments.
  • Promotes adoption of digital tools, platforms, and capabilities across flydubai, by championing change to shift mindsets, upskill teams, and embed digital thinking, to ensure digital initiatives deliver measurable business value and process improvement.
  • Scout industry best-of-breed IT solutions and provide competitive advantage by continuously scanning the market for innovative technology trends, solutions, and partners, evaluating and implementing emerging technologies (e.g., AI, data analytics, cloud, cybersecurity) that align with business needs.
  • Builds and maintains a network of vendors, start-ups, and strategic technology partners, conducting technology benchmarking to ensure IT landscape remains competitive. and driving proof-of-concepts and pilot programs to validate solution value before full-scale adoption.
  • Fosters cross-functional collaboration to accelerate innovation by co-creating technology solutions with department heads, enabling agile delivery, cross-team experimentation, and open innovation practices such as hackathons, ideation platforms, and collaborative sprints to break down silos and drive innovation.
  • Ensure governance, scalability, and measurable value from IT investments by applying enterprise-wide frameworks, maintaining oversight of data security, compliance, and risk protocols, and implementing value-tracking mechanisms to monitor ROI and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develops and maintains effective, credible and influential relationships with Chiefs and department heads, enabling optimisation and companywide initiatives to be discussed and implemented when appropriate.
  • Drives Service Management to ensure the effective IT support of the business, ensuring that relevant and achievable service levels are agreed with the business, and ensurees performance against service level objectives is reviewed and managed to minimise revenue leakage, operational disruption, customer or employee experience decline due to IT system failures.
  • Drives the delivery of the business IT annual work programme and be accountable for the financial management of the IT budgets for the business area and owns ultimate responsibility for delivering the annual business IT work programme and managing associated IT budgets, ensuring project milestones, risks, costs, and stakeholder satisfaction are proactively overseen through active participation in steering groups and strategic decision-making.
  • Provides IT leadership and make informed build verses buy decisions, source best of breed solutions aligned with IT strategy of mobile first, cloud first and digital first., and negotiates SLAs and service credits with the vendors, conduct regular service review and escalate at Chief levels on service degradation.
  • Provides relevant inputs on business performance focus areas and strategic themes to IT Strategy & Enterprise Architecture to ensure alignment with IT Strategy in selection of technologies and design that is future proof and fit for purpose, provides competitive advantage, and delivers business value.
  • Drives service improvement programmes that bring in cost efficiencies and reduce time to market. identify technology improvement, optimisation and replacement initiatives, implement and drive effective resource management to optimise resource utilization and cost.
  • Coaches and mentors a team of high performing IT professionals, providing continuous feedback and facilitating professional development., enabling the team to flourish through high levels of engagement and productivity and nurture and attract high performing experts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree (3+ years)
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Honours in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. Master’s degree in engineering or MBA is preferred
  • Fluent in English
  • 15 years of experience in IT Management, Product, Project delivery, with a minimum of 5 years experience at IT Leadership role on Transformation programs and leading large IT teams.Airline Industry knowledge and awareness of emerging technologies
  • Years with qualifications: 15+ years
  • Airline Industry knowledge and awareness of emerging technologies PMP and SAFe certifications

Isr Requirements

Reads and complies with the ISR policies of the Company and diligently reports any weakness or incidents to the respective Line Manager or the Information Security team. Completes all required ISR awareness sessions and follows associated guidelines in the day-to-day business operations.
