Job Description

A Technical Sales Engineer serves as a key link between the technical aspects of a product/service and the clients who purchase it. This role is crucial for businesses aiming to sell technologically advanced products to increase market penetration and customer retention. Combining technical expertise with sales skills, a Technical Sales Engineer can communicate complex technical information in a manner that is clear to potential users. They work to understand customer needs, provide technical solutions, and ensure that product offerings meet customer requirements. By leveraging their knowledge in engineering and sales, they can bridge the gap between a company's product capabilities and the customer's demands, ensuring a seamless integration that elevates user satisfaction and boosts sales.


Responsibilities

  • Identify and understand customer needs and propose technical solutions accordingly.
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations to explain products or services to customers.
  • Liaise with the engineering team to tailor products to meet specific client requirements.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and trainings both on-site and virtually for clients.
  • Maintain relationships with existing clients and establish relationships with new ones.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales proposals and negotiate contracts with prospective clients.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and competitor products to better articulate product advantages.
  • Assist in the development of technical marketing collateral and promotional materials.
  • Present regular reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services.
  • Coordinate with customer service and support teams to ensure a smooth post-sale transition and ongoing client satisfaction.
  • Travel to client locations as necessary to foster relationships and close sales.
  • Participate in trade shows, exhibitions, and industry forums to promote company offerings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a sales engineering role or similar technical sales position.
  • Strong understanding of technical concepts and the ability to explain them clearly.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills for effective client pitches.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple accounts and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrable track record of meeting sales targets and delivering excellent customer service.
  • Willingness to travel frequently for client meetings and industry events.
