In This Role You Will
Develop optimal, fit-for-purpose, and aligned IT architecture solutions that meet customer requirements. Ensure architecture is robust, appropriate, and high-quality, conforming to corporate IT standards and roadmaps. Take accountability for the end-to-end architecture, including architecture and technology decisions.
Develop Enterprise Architecture standards and guidelines in the information, application, and technology domains. Work closely with the Manager Enterprise Architecture and other peer architects in the development of technology advancements and the adaptation of new technologies and patterns. Continuously monitor industry trends, identify and evaluate relevant technologies and tools, and showcase business value by executing Proof of Concepts—engaging relevant IT teams.
Establish policy, guidelines, and strategy for selecting system components and their designs. Assess solution designs to ensure they effectively use architectural patterns and adhere to the guidelines. Promote the reuse of solutions, platforms, and services. Contribute to the enterprise architecture repository.
Guide, mentor, and motivate the development team members in adopting good engineering practices, tools, and techniques throughout the development process. In addition, advise and support team members in overcoming technical challenges by providing expert consultancy and coaching.
Conduct architecture reviews of vendor products as part of the selection process and other critical production applications with Software Engineering development teams. Provide architecture recommendations for the short- and long-term improvement of applications.
Develop logical infrastructure solutions in alignment with the technology standards. Work closely with infrastructure teams to ensure that the physical infrastructure designed meets project requirements.
Work together, oversee, and govern the development to ensure the development team's design and implementation align with the proposed architecture definition. Work closely with the quality engineering team to ensure that the final solution meets the agreed non-functional requirements.
Collaborate closely with Manager Enterprise Architects to ensure alignment of information, application, and technology architecture to the overall architecture principles, framework, and guidelines.
Own, manage, and maintain the architecture roadmap and runways of small to medium-sized initiatives, products, environments, and/or platforms. Act as a product owner and be accountable for proactively identifying, prioritizing, and overseeing the development of technical enablers, technical debts, quality improvements, and application modernization activities.
Drive architecture decisions and be accountable for their implications regarding solution costs, delivery schedules, application complexity, technical debt, and overall solution performance.
Qualification
To be considered for this role, you must meet the below requirements:
Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent). Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent IT-related discipline and 8+ years of experience in Information Technology.
5+ years of experience in designing and developing large-scale, complex, distributed, mission-critical applications in heterogeneous environments.
Hands-on experience in detailed business system architecture and design. Technical leadership across groups of technical architects and senior developers. Ability to influence delivery plans based on architecture and skills constraints.
In-depth understanding of one or more technologies such as Java, ERP, Cloud, open source frameworks, low code platforms, Big Data, BI, data warehouses, observability, automation, network and infrastructure, mobile & frontend technologies, AI/ML, container management platforms, database, integration, digital workplace, DevOps, IoT, Blockchain, Web 3.0, contact centre, mainframe, service management platforms, messaging, cyber security, etc.
Understanding of Architecture Methods, Principles, and Patterns (OOAD, GoF, SOA, etc.). Understanding of architecture and design artefacts (Archimate, C4, UML models, etc.). Understanding of agile software development methodologies such as SCRUM and Scaled Agile. Understanding of Open Source Frameworks (Apache, Spring, etc.). Understanding of cross-cutting architecture capabilities (Rules, Workflow, Security, etc.). Understanding of the big picture view, non-functional requirements, and other practices such as observability and automation. Understanding of architecture styles such as microservices, event-driven architecture, and cloud-native applications. Understanding of the well-architected framework for cloud deployments. Preferably, good understanding and experience in the airline domain.
Solutions Architect – Infrastructure
Proficiency in developing and recommending infrastructure improvements and enhancements, with expertise in Disaster Recovery / Auto failovers, IT Service Continuity, and resiliency planning for essential systems and applications. Familiarity with implementing infrastructure solutions both on-premises (like VMWare vSphere/ESXi, VMWare Aria Automation, VMWare NSX-T, Hyper-V, Xen) and in public Clouds (Amazon / Microsoft) in diverse deployments. Collaboration with internal teams and vendors is expected. Good understanding of Infrastructure Observability / Monitoring.
Knowledge of licensing models and compliance for Databases and Operating Systems across major vendors such as Oracle, Microsoft, and Couchbase in hybrid cloud environments. Experience designing secure architectural solutions for PaaS, IaaS, and SaaS. Familiarity with security best practices for both on-premises and cloud environments is a plus.
Basic experience in network architecture and implementation, covering aspects like routers, switches, load balancers, and public cloud networking. Familiarity with storage and backup architectures, including cloud storage, object storage, block storage, and backup solutions.
Solutions Architect – DevSecOps & Containers
Expertise in architecting and implementing Linux / Windows container (OCI) based solutions, encompassing container repositories and optimized base images in large-scale enterprise settings.
Experience architecting and implementing CRI-O-based Kubernetes platforms across multi-cloud environments, with proficiency in multi-cloud platforms such as EKS / AKS / GKE. Skilled in devising and implementing automated deployment solutions, quota management, and billing within container management platforms. Proficiency in architecting and rolling out observability/monitoring tools for application containers and their management platforms. Expertise in ensuring the security of containers and their management platforms, including Service Mesh implementations.
