Chemonics seeks a Regional Advisor for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region to support the Growth Division’s Gulf Foreign Assistance Team. The Regional Advisor will support Chemonics’ client engagement and strategic outreach to GCC donors and other key players in the development sector. This position is a short-term consultancy based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with potential for travel to Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Responsibilities:
Landscape Mapping: Conduct comprehensive mapping of donor landscape, in addition to other key players in the development sector, including private sector, philanthropy, and quasi-governmental entities.
Client and Donor Engagement: Following landscape mapping, actively engage identified stakeholders via in-person meetings. Serve as Chemonics’ representative in these engagements, compellingly representing relevant corporate capabilities and experience.
Partnership Development: Identify and engage established implementing partners in the GCC, recommending competitive and strategic alliances for donor-funded opportunities.
Targeted Support to Home Office: Support executive travel to the region – providing recommendations for key counterparts, assisting travel considerations, and co-attending meetings, conferences, or other events. Provide select technical assistance to home office team to determine next steps following preliminary client engagement.
Qualifications:
Minimum 8 years of experience in the Gulf official development assistance sector, preferably including experience with development and humanitarian assistance in the region
Possesses strong relationships with Gulf donor entities, including the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, the King Salman Humanitarian Assistance and Relief Fund, and the Qatar Fund for Development, among others
Possesses networks or ability to quickly network with relevant private and public sector entities in the Gulf, including existing implementing partners for Gulf funding and companies with large corporate social responsibility portfolios
Knowledge of Gulf donors, their operations, and associated regulations, policies, and political considerations required.
Knowledge of the Gulf paired with fluent Arabic language skills
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively both orally and in writing (English and Arabic), and lead presentations and effective meetings.
Experience delivering persuasive pitches to high-profile audiences is preferred.
