Job Description

The Senior Accountant is a pivotal role in managing the financial accuracy and integrity of an organization. They possess expertise in accounting principles and a keen attention to detail to oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and auditing. Senior Accountants play a critical part in strategic planning, providing insights into financial forecasts and helping guide financial decisions. They work closely with other team members to ensure adherence to legal regulations and company policies. Moreover, they are responsible for mentoring junior accountants and assisting in the development of efficient accounting practices to promote the financial health and success of the organization.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze accurate financial statements including balance sheets and income statements.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and legal regulations are strictly adhered to.
  • Review and recommend improvements to accounting systems, both software and processes.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities to guide financial strategy and planning.
  • Coordinate and complete annual audits, working with external auditors for optimal results.
  • Monitor financial transactions and optimize the integrity and security of financial data.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff and assist in their development.
  • Analyze financial data and prepare reports to present findings to senior management.
  • Manage and reconcile complex ledgers for accounts payable and receivable.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for accounting processes.
  • Oversee payroll functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing for all employees.
  • Collaborate with departments across the organization to support overall financial objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or a related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is strongly preferred.
  • Proficient understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data effectively.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are vital.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team of accounting professionals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines efficiently.
