Job Overview
The Team Leader – Calibration/Maintenance Engineering will be responsible for overseeing all calibration and instrumentation-related activities across the engineering department. This includes managing new installations, ensuring the reliability and compliance of equipment, leading a technical team, and driving continuous improvement across systems, processes, and performance outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee calibration of instruments/equipment and manage maintenance and new installations under the calibration department.
Ensure proper documentation and implementation of preventive and corrective maintenance schedules to maintain system reliability, availability, and uptime.
Evaluate, review, and approve technical designs, proposals, and submittals.
Develop and monitor project schedules using appropriate planning tools, ensuring adherence to timelines and milestones.
Manage and supervise third-party contractors to ensure timely completion of work in line with contractual obligations.
Ensure documentation compliance, including SOPs, O&M manuals, protocols, and system reports related to calibration activities.
Lead, mentor, coach, and supervise team members to drive performance and engagement.
Provide engineering recommendations and technical support for calibration and instrumentation initiatives, projects, and strategy reviews.
Continuously optimize departmental operations through recruitment, performance reviews, and development initiatives.
Monitor and manage team performance against departmental deliverables and KPIs.
Evaluate strategic plans and processes; implement corrective actions where necessary.
Plan and execute departmental upgrades/projects by defining specifications, selecting vendors, planning shutdowns, and maintaining budget estimates.
Ensure a safe and compliant working environment by enforcing safety standards and adhering to regulatory requirements.
Monitor and control departmental budgets, including both OPEX and CAPEX, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment between departmental activities and organizational goals.
Propose and contribute to energy-saving initiatives and cost-optimization strategies.
Comply with all EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) standards and practices as per site policy.

Qualifications & Functional Knowledge
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation preferred).
Minimum 10 years of experience in the engineering field, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry.
Proven experience in calibration and instrumentation projects, including installation, compliance with authority codes/regulations, and safety protocols.
Proficient in managing both OPEX and CAPEX budgets, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Strong leadership, team management, and project execution capabilities.
Advanced documentation, reporting, and technical writing skills.
Familiarity with Quality Compliance systems and ISO-17025 guidelines.
Certified in uncertainty measurement calculations is a plus.
Proficient in SAP and EQMS platforms.
