Job Description

As a Registered Nurse specialized in Operation Theatre, you will be an integral part of the surgical team, ensuring that patients receive the utmost care before, during, and after surgical procedures. Your role will involve preparing the operating room for surgery, aiding the surgical team during operations, and ensuring all necessary equipment is sterilized and ready for use. You will be responsible for monitoring the patient's vital signs and providing crucial post-operative care to promote recovery and minimize complications. This dynamic role demands a high level of technical expertise, precision, and excellent communication skills, as collaboration with surgeons and anesthetists is pivotal to ensuring successful surgical outcomes.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical environment in the operating room.
  • Assist surgeons with instruments and provide materials during surgery.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and communicate any changes to the team.
  • Ensure all surgical equipment and tools are properly sterilized and functional.
  • Document all nursing activities accurately as per hospital standards.
  • Coordinate with anesthetists to manage patient anesthesia and comfort levels.
  • Provide detailed pre-operative instructions and reassurance to patients.
  • Manage the smooth transition of patients from the operating room to the recovery area.
  • Conduct thorough counts of surgical tools and accessories post-procedures.
  • Educate and update patient families regarding recovery and care post-surgery.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare safety protocols and regulations at all times.
  • Participate in professional development and training to stay current in the field.

Requirements

  • Must hold a valid nursing license and be registered to practice.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in an operating theatre setup.
  • Excellent understanding of surgical procedures and operating room setups.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced hospital environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to interact with medical staff.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
