Job Description

A Quantity Surveyor plays a critical role in the construction and engineering industries by managing all costs related to building and civil engineering projects. This could range from small homes to large infrastructural developments. The main goal is to achieve the best balance between cost, quality, and progress, ensuring value for money on the projects they oversee. Quantity Surveyors are involved from the planning stage to completion, providing cost guidance and overseeing financial performance. Their responsibilities extend to preparing tender and contract documents, conducting feasibility studies, and risk analysis. With strong analytical skills, they ensure projects are completed within the financial framework, making the utmost use of resources while adhering to regulatory standards and quality expectations.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and update project reports, budgets, and financial forecasts routinely.
  • Conduct cost analysis and manage financial resources to meet project goals.
  • Compile and manage tender documents and contracts accurately and timely.
  • Conduct feasibility studies to estimate materials, time, and labor costs.
  • Negotiate and liaise with clients and contractors to maintain effective communication.
  • Provide technical and administrative advice to project managers during construction phases.
  • Evaluate risk factors and implement mitigation strategies to reduce impacts.
  • Ensure compliance with legal regulations and standards of best practice in industry.
  • Advise on potential cost-related issues and propose effective cost-saving measures.
  • Supervise site activities and project progress for quality and financial compliance.
  • Maintain comprehensive records, track changes, and document updates for future referencing.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports to stakeholders on financial and project status.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
  • At least three years of professional experience in a quantity surveying role.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Proficiency with industry-specific software and project management tools.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with various stakeholders.
  • In-depth knowledge of project management and construction processes and standards.
  • Familiarity with financial analysis and budgeting within construction projects.
