Job Description

A Project Manager in the civil engineering domain is responsible for overseeing and managing construction projects from inception to completion. This role requires extensive experience in civil engineering and project management practices to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of all stakeholders. The Project Manager must possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and keen problem-solving capabilities to navigate the challenges of construction projects. Moreover, the individual in this role should have a deep understanding of the construction industry standards, regulations, and environmental guidelines. By coordinating with architects, engineers, contractors, and government officials, the Project Manager plays a critical role in shaping the infrastructure and environment in which communities thrive.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules to ensure timely project completion.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to define project scope, goals, and deliverables effectively.
  • Oversee the entire project lifecycle from planning through execution and close-out.
  • Prepare and manage the project budget, ensuring cost efficiency and control.
  • Assess and manage project risks, developing strategies to mitigate potential issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, environmental, and safety regulations in construction.
  • Lead and coordinate site meetings with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage and resolve conflicts or discrepancies within the project team or with suppliers.
  • Prepare progress reports and present them to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Ensure quality control and assurance throughout the project phases and deliverables.
  • Conduct post-project evaluations to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Implement best practices in project management to enhance project efficiency and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing civil engineering projects.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and efficiently.
  • Proficiency with project management software and other relevant computer applications.
