Job Description

As a Process Safety Engineer, you will be at the forefront of ensuring that industrial processes operate safely and within regulatory compliance. Your primary objective is to minimize risks associated with complex industrial operations through proactive safety design and strategies. You will work on assessing and managing potential threats to the operational integrity, thereby safeguarding both personnel and the environment. By conducting thorough risk assessments and implementing rigorous safety management systems, you will play a crucial role in fostering a culture of safety excellence. Your efforts will support both the ongoing operation of facilities and the development of new processes, ensuring they meet the highest safety standards possible. Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed risk assessments and develop process safety management plans for all operations.
  • Ensure compliance of all facilities with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Develop and implement safety procedures and protocols for routine and non-routine activities.
  • Lead safety audits and inspections to identify potential safety hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide technical support during safety incident investigations to determine root causes.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to integrate safety standards into process design.
  • Analyze safety performance data and prepare comprehensive reports for management review.
  • Coordinate and conduct training sessions for staff on process safety and emergency response protocols.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and regulations in process safety management.
  • Support the development and review of safety systems related to risk management operations.
  • Provide expert consultation on chemical handling and storage to prevent accidental releases.
  • Facilitate communication between departments to maintain a cohesive approach to process safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working in process safety or a similar industry sector.
  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant safety regulations and standards, such as OSHA and EPA.
  • Proven experience in conducting HAZOP, LOPA, and SIL assessments for industrial processes.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively conduct safety training.
  • Proficient in the use of safety management software and tools to manage process safety data.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams on safety-related projects.
