Job Summary:

The MEP Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems for construction projects. This role involves analyzing project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to develop estimates for materials, labor, and equipment costs. The MEP Estimation Engineer works closely with project managers, design teams, and procurement to ensure competitive and comprehensive pricing in bids and tenders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze MEP drawings, specifications, and project documents for cost estimation.
  • Prepare detailed estimates for mechanical (HVAC), electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Quantify materials, labor, and equipment requirements based on design and scope.
  • Conduct cost analysis and value engineering to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors for pricing and technical details.
  • Support the bid/tendering process by providing accurate and timely cost data.
  • Evaluate and compare supplier/subcontractor quotations to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Collaborate with design and project management teams to validate scope and estimate accuracy.
  • Update and maintain a database of material and labor costs for future reference.
  • Participate in meetings with clients, consultants, and contractors as required.
  • Prepare and present estimation reports and BOQs (Bill of Quantities).

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in MEP estimation in the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of MEP systems, standards, and construction methods.
  • Proficient in estimation software such as AutoCAD, Revit, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Familiarity with local and international codes and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, NEC, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred:

  • Experience with large-scale commercial, residential, or industrial projects.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of BIM and 3D modeling for MEP estimation.
