Job Description

The Maintenance Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing all installation, repair, and upkeep operations of a company’s facilities. This role is essential in ensuring that mechanical systems remain operational, production runs smoothly, and any breakdowns do not impact the overall functioning of the business. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for developing maintenance procedures and ensuring the implementation of these procedures to ensure workplace safety and optimize operational efficiency. They manage all aspects of the maintenance department's daily operations, including staffing, planning, budgeting, and ensuring that the facility remains up to code and in line with industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a keen eye for detail, and a proactive approach to identifying potential issues before they become major problems.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily maintenance work and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans to minimize downtime.
  • Schedule and oversee necessary repairs and installations within the facility.
  • Manage, train, and evaluate maintenance staff to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure maintenance activities do not disrupt business operations.
  • Maintain inventory records of equipment and supplies to ensure resources are available.
  • Create detailed reports on maintenance activities and machinery performance.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify potential and existing issues.
  • Negotiate contracts with external vendors and oversee the execution of their work.
  • Stay updated with current industry trends and implement new practices as necessary.
  • Ensure the facility complies with all federal, state, and local safety codes and regulations.
  • Assist in budget preparation and monitor maintenance expenses to stay within constraints.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in maintenance management or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Proven experience in managing a team and leading cross-functional groups.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for coordinating with various departments.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in maintenance operations.
