Job Description

A Logistics Officer is a critical player in the efficient management of supply chain operations within an organization. This role involves overseeing the successful movement of goods and materials, ensuring that they are delivered on time, in the right condition, and at the best possible cost. Logistics Officers must be skilled in data analysis and problem-solving, as they are responsible for planning and coordinating the flow of materials and goods from suppliers to consumers. They play a crucial role in reducing costs and improving service levels within an organization, by ensuring the timely delivery of products and resources. This dynamic position requires strong organizational abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee logistics operations to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Plan and implement logistics strategies and optimize operational efficiencies.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, and retailers for efficient supply chain operations.
  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international logistics regulations.
  • Develop and implement logistical procedures to enhance supply chain efficiency.
  • Analyze logistics processes and identify areas for improvement and cost reduction.
  • Collaborate with other departments to sync logistics activities with organizational goals.
  • Oversee the warehousing and shipping of goods and provide inventory control.
  • Utilize logistics software and tools to plan and manage logistics operations.
  • Maintain records and prepare logistics reports for management review.
  • Resolve any discrepancies or issues arising within the logistics process.
  • Lead, train, and manage a logistics team to ensure operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Proven work experience in a logistics or supply chain management role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills for dealing with suppliers and clients.
  • Proficient in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
