Job Description

A Lifting Equipment Inspection Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and compliance of lifting equipment used across various industries. This position involves the meticulous examination and certification of equipment such as cranes, hoists, lifts, and other machinery designed for lifting operations. The engineer is responsible for assessing the functionality, safety, and reliability of these assets, complying with national and international safety standards and regulations. The role demands a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, and the ability to interpret technical documents and safety guidelines. Furthermore, the engineer must maintain accurate records, provide recommendations for necessary repairs or replacements, and work closely with operations teams to mitigate risks associated with lifting equipment.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections of lifting equipment to ensure operational safety and compliance standards.
  • Evaluate the physical condition of lifting devices and report on their functionality and safety.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and documentation in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Identify potential risks or hazards related to lifting operations and recommend solutions.
  • Ensure that all lifting equipment meets industry standards and regulatory requirements consistently.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to address identified issues in lifting equipment promptly.
  • Develop and update inspection checklists and procedures based on the latest standards and findings.
  • Specialize in both routine and unscheduled inspections to maintain high safety levels.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of inspections, findings, and corrective actions taken.
  • Provide expert advice on equipment replacement or upgrades to improve safety and efficiency.
  • Assist in training other staff members on inspection procedures and safety standards.
  • Stay updated with current regulations, industry trends, and best practices in lifting equipment safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Certification or training in lifting equipment inspection and safety standards is required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in inspecting and maintaining lifting equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and industrial safety standards is essential.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are crucial for this role.
  • Ability to produce clear, concise, and detailed inspection reports and documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with teams and regulatory bodies.
