Job Description

An Inventory Control Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining the balance and efficient flow of inventory within a company. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work with complex data sets. The specialist is responsible for ensuring that inventory levels are accurate and meet the demands of the company's operations. This involves tracking inventory movements, managing inventory databases, and implementing inventory control protocols. The role is vital for preventing inventory discrepancies, optimizing stock levels, and reducing costs associated with overstocking or stockouts. Effective communication skills are necessary to collaborate with various departments to coordinate inventory management strategies and solve any inventory-related issues.


Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability.
  • Conduct regular audits and cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Analyze inventory data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement inventory management strategies to minimize waste and reduce costs.
  • Collaborate with procurement and sales teams to forecast inventory needs accurately.
  • Maintain and update the inventory database with accurate and detailed information.
  • Coordinate with the warehouse team to ensure efficient product storage and handling.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of inventory control systems and processes.
  • Prepare and present inventory reports to management and recommend action plans.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards in inventory handling.
  • Work with vendors and suppliers to resolve inventory discrepancies and issues.
  • Provide support and training to staff on inventory control processes and systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an Inventory Control Specialist or a similar role.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in inventory management software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy in work.
  • Ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration across departments.
  • Familiarity with supply chain procedures and best practices in inventory management.
