Job Description

As an Import-Export Specialist, you will play a crucial role in managing and ensuring the smooth transfer of goods across international borders. Your primary focus will be to handle import and export documentation, compliance with customs regulations, and coordination with suppliers, shippers, and regulatory bodies to facilitate seamless trade operations. You will act as the point of contact for shipments, ensuring they meet all international trade requirements and are delivered on time. Your ability to navigate the complexities of international trade laws and your proficiency in logistics will be vital in optimizing supply chain efficiency and minimizing costs.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the preparation and processing of import and export documentation and customs entries.
  • Ensure compliance with all international trade laws and regulations for import and export activities.
  • Communicate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to facilitate shipments.
  • Monitor shipment status and resolve any issues that may arise during transportation.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of shipping logs and transportation details.
  • Negotiate rates and contracts with carriers and freight forwarders to achieve cost savings.
  • Analyze and report on import and export activities, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Manage import and export licenses, quotas, permits, and any necessary government exceptions.
  • Assist in auditing the company’s import/export processes for efficiency and compliance.
  • Provide guidance and training to internal teams on export/import procedures and policies.
  • Stay updated with changes in trade regulations, tariffs, and industry trends.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve supply chain efficiencies and reduce costs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in import-export operations or logistics management.
  • Proficiency in using logistics and shipment tracking software and tools.
  • Strong understanding of international trade laws, tariffs, and customs regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with great attention to detail.
  • High interpersonal and communication skills to effectively liaise with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
