Job Description

The Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer is a key position responsible for placing importance on safety and well-being across all company operations. The officer works diligently to ensure that the work environment is safe and compliant with occupational health and safety regulations. This role also requires the implementation and monitoring of company safety plans and ensuring adherence to environmental health standards. The HSE Officer plays a proactive role in educating employees on safety practices and environmental regulations. By fostering a culture that emphasizes safety, the HSE Officer contributes significantly to reducing workplace hazards and preventing incidents. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, communicative, and have a robust understanding of industry-specific health and safety regulations.


Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety programs and policies.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to prevent workplace accidents and incidents.
  • Promote and enforce compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Manage and investigate workplace incidents, near-misses, and accidents for root cause analysis.
  • Coordinate and deliver HSE training sessions and workshops for continuous employee education.
  • Maintain and update HSE documentation and records in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Interface with external agencies and regulatory bodies to ensure on-going compliance.
  • Lead and support environmental monitoring efforts to adhere to environmental protection guidelines.
  • Perform risk assessments and suggest measures to mitigate identified hazards.
  • Collaborate with management to integrate and implement safety programs across departments.
  • Advise on occupational health and safety requirements during project planning phases.
  • Prepare detailed reports on health and safety performance and recommend improvement strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in occupational health and safety or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in a health, safety, and environment-related role.
  • Comprehensive understanding of local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards.
  • Professional certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent credentials preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective training and guidance.
  • Ability to conduct thorough investigations and deliver insightful safety reports.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office and safety management software for documentation purposes.
