Job Description

The Group IT Director will serve as the principal technology leader across a diversified group that includes a large food and distribution company, a family office, and a charitable foundation. This is a wide-ranging role that combines strategic vision with hands-on execution. The Group IT Director will be responsible for defining and implementing technology strategy, ensuring cybersecurity and resilience, and delivering solutions that support both enterprise operations and digital presence. The role spans enterprise systems, integrations, business intelligence, digital platforms, and security - requiring a generalist who is comfortable moving fluidly across technologies and business contexts.

The role will require a strong presence in both Lebanon and Dubai, with frequent travel and extended stays to ensure alignment across entities.

Technology Strategy and Architecture

The Group IT Director will be responsible for defining and executing the group’s technology roadmap, ensuring that every initiative is aligned with strategic business priorities. This includes architecting and integrating core enterprise systems such as Oracle JDE, Microsoft 365, CRM platforms, and custom applications, while building seamless connections with reporting and analytics tools. The ideal candidate will be adaptable and forward-thinking, with the ability to evaluate emerging technologies and translate them into practical solutions that enhance efficiency, strengthen scalability, and create measurable value across all group entities.

Cybersecurity and Risk Management

Protecting the integrity of the group’s information assets will be central to the role. The Group IT Director will oversee cybersecurity across all entities, ensuring that best practices are consistently applied. This includes data protection, access management, and the introduction of governance frameworks that safeguard against operational and reputational risks. The position will act as the first line of defense in evaluating vendor security and enforcing compliance.

Implementation and Digital Execution

While strategy is an important part of the role, hands-on delivery will also be expected. The individual will directly execute or oversee IT projects, ensuring that systems are not only well integrated but also reliable and user-friendly. The role will extend beyond enterprise IT into digital initiatives. This includes developing and maintaining websites for the group. Ensuring scalability, security, and ease of use will be critical to these projects.

Business Partnership

A central element of the position is the ability to translate business objectives into technology solutions. The Group IT Director will work closely with leadership to identify initiatives that generate real business or reputational value. This requires not just technical proficiency, but also an understanding of business processes and the ability to act as a trusted advisor. Regular engagement with senior leadership will help shape priorities and ensure technology investments are aligned with group goals.

Vendor & Team Oversight

Although the position will initially be an individual contributor, it carries responsibility for liaising with IT teams in various locations and overseeing their alignment with group standards. The Group IT Director will manage relationships with external vendors and consultants, ensuring that service levels and project outcomes meet expectations. The role also involves contract negotiation and active management of external resources, balancing cost-effectiveness with quality.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will likely have 10 to 15 years of progressive IT experience, with significant exposure to enterprise systems such as ERP, CRM, and financial applications. A strong generalist mindset is essential, with the ability to adapt across enterprise IT, APIs, cloud services, and digital projects. The candidate should demonstrate a solid understanding of cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, and integration best practices. Strong communication skills and the ability to engage directly with both senior leadership and operational teams are essential.
