About The Role

In this role, you will develop being Macros in-house lead for compliance on US and Canadian Statutory and Financial Regulatory matters.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

US/Canadian Sales Tax

  • Maintain Macro records of all Sales Tax, GST, PST, and similar customer-visible taxes registered and payable at all jurisdictional levels.

US/Canadian Corporate Income Taxes

  • Maintain Macro records of all CIT taxes registered and payable at all jurisdictional levels.
  • Ensure all tax filings and payments are completed on time. The Global Compliance and Technical Lead Manager will be responsible for ensuring processes to calculate and support tax calculations and returns filing are in place (including where appropriate the usage of external advisors), this role will support the Lead Manager on those processes and ensure timey execution.
  • This is likely to include, but not be limited to, completing CIT tax packs, preparing initial draft computations, and supporting external advisors with their requests and questions.
  • Maintain balance sheet and P&L reconciliations for all tax positions.

US/Canadian Other Taxes

  • Maintain Macro records of all non-Sales Tax and non-CIT taxes registered and payable at all jurisdictional levels.
  • Ensure all taxes are filed and paid on time. The Global Compliance and Technical Lead Manager will be responsible for ensuring processes to calculate and support the tax calculations and returns filing are in place (including where appropriate the usage of external advisors); this role is expected to support the Lead Manager and then when those processes are in place, that they are followed on time.
  • Maintain balance sheet and P&L reconciliations for these tax positions.

US/Canadian Licencing

  • Maintain Macro records of all business licences across all State, Province, City, County, and District levels.
  • Ensure all licences are renewed on time and associated fees and returns are paid and submitted promptly.

US/Canadian Statutory Filings

  • Assist the Manager responsible for US and Canadian accounting with month-end close, yearly accounts, and other filings.
  • Support global and local audits related to US and Canadian financial matters.

US/Canadian financial regulations lead

  • Develop and maintain Macro processes to monitor changes across tax, licencing, and statutory filings (especially accounting).
  • Assist in conducting impact assessments and implementing process improvements to mitigate and comply.
  • Help develop training and awareness materials for finance and other Macro colleagues regarding US/Canadian financial regulations and processes.

Project Responsibilities

  • Organise and deliver on US/Canadian projects to enhance our tax, licencing and accounting processes. These will evolve quarterly and annually in response to Macro’s growth, technological advancements, regulatory changes, and role capacity.

  • Bring all existing and newly won client sites compliance levels with business licencing fees and non-SalesTax / non-CIT taxes to 100% compliant on a go-forward basis.
  • Enhance historic compliance and develop and maintain a risk-exposure log and assessments of US/Canadian licencing and tax matters.
  • Develop formal documentation and training on processes for the setup and close down of US/Canadian trading locations that ensures 100% future compliance.
  • Implement a strong electronic system to track all licencing and tax filing and renewal requirements that ensures all such matters happen on time in future.     

General Remit

Support the wider Macro finance team with additional tasks as needed:

For 2025-2026 This Includes

  • Work with Macros Global Compliance and Technical Lead Manager to own the setup and closedown process for US/Canada and ensure all locations are tax and licence registered, systems and processes are setup, and all in finance are ready for full compliance on-time for when trading gets underway

With the support of Macros Global Company Secretarial Manager you will:

  • Maintain and manage all Sales Tax customer exemption certificates, including tracking coverage date and following up (via Business Partners) to obtain new certificates when required.
  • Maintain and manage all Sales Tax resale certificates and similar supply chain tax waivers, including issuing certificates to new suppliers or for existing suppliers in new locations, as well as sending out renewed certificates upon expiry.
  • Maintain balance sheet and P&L reconciliations related to these tax positions.
  • Ensure all taxes are filed and paid on time. While The Global Compliance and Technical Lead Manager is responsible for ensuring processes to calculate and support the tax calculations and returns filing are in place (including where appropriate the usage of external advisors), this role is expected to support the Lead Manager and ensure those processes are followed once in place. Specifically for Sales Tax, GST, PST, this responsibility will include maintenance and usage of the Avalara Tax Calculator, Webcon Sage invoicing solution (with IT), and Avalara Returns system.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Currently studying or part-qualified in an internationally recognised accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, ACA, CPA, etc.)
  • Finance experience within a multi-national environment.
  • Diligent and organised nature, with strong attention to detail and a process-oriented mindset.
  • Willingness to learn and explore new things, including researching technical topics. An interest in developing a career in technical accounting (e.g. accounting standards, tax ) would be beneficial.
  • Strong communications skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
