Job Description

An Estimation Engineer plays a crucial role in the construction and engineering sectors, responsible for analyzing, estimating, and assessing the preliminary costs of projects. These professionals are vital in ensuring that project objectives are met within budgetary constraints. By comprehensively evaluating project specifications, blueprints, and related documents, Estimation Engineers predict labor, materials, and equipment costs. Their expertise helps organizations in establishing budgets, assisting in project selection, and managing risks. Working closely with project managers and site engineers, Estimation Engineers enable informed decision-making and strategic project planning. Responsibilities

  • Analyze project drawings and specifications to develop accurate estimates of costs.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to determine project requirements.
  • Evaluate labor, materials, and time requirements for a project’s completion.
  • Calculate the cost effect of potential project changes or delays.
  • Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and reports for management review.
  • Review contracts and proposals for cost optimization opportunities.
  • Maintain databases of historical costs for use in future project estimates.
  • Ensure cost estimates are in alignment with industry standards and regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies for unexpected expenses.
  • Stay updated with market trends and developments in construction materials and labor costs.
  • Visit sites to assess the conditions affecting cost estimates when necessary.
  • Support the tendering process by providing comprehensive cost assessments and insights.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience in cost estimation or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in estimation software and construction project management tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail are essential.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of risk management and cost control methodologies.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and compliance regulations in construction.
