Job Description

As an Electrical Inspector, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of electrical systems within various facilities. Your primary focus will be on conducting thorough inspections of new constructions, renovations, and existing electrical installations to ensure adherence to relevant codes and standards. You will work closely with engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to identify potential issues and provide guidance on necessary modifications to meet safety regulations. This role requires a meticulous eye for detail and a deep understanding of electrical systems and their components. Alongside technical skills, effective communication and problem-solving abilities are essential for successfully liaising with various parties and documenting findings accurately.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive inspections of electrical systems to ensure code compliance and safety standards.
  • Evaluate electrical blueprints and designs for compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Identify defects or areas of non-compliance in electrical installations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, documenting findings and necessary corrections clearly and concisely.
  • Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and architects to resolve electrical compliance issues effectively.
  • Issue permits and approvals for electrical installations that meet established codes and standards.
  • Stay updated with changes in electrical codes and technologies to ensure proper inspection practices.
  • Conduct follow-up inspections to verify that corrective actions have been implemented successfully.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on electrical safety and compliance matters to stakeholders.
  • Respond to emergency situations involving electrical systems to assess and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Ensure all inspection equipment and tools are maintained, calibrated, and functioning appropriately.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance technical knowledge and skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as an Electrical Inspector or in a similar inspection role required.
  • Strong knowledge of national and local electrical codes and standards essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail to identify safety risks and code violations.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders, including contractors and engineers.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints accurately and efficiently.
  • Proficiency with inspection tools and equipment used to evaluate electrical systems.
  • Capability to work independently and make informed decisions in complex situations.
  • Good organizational skills to manage multiple inspections and reporting deadlines effectively.
