Job Description

The Credit Manager plays a pivotal role in financial institutions and businesses by ensuring sound credit policies and maintaining robust credit health for the organization. This professional is responsible for assessing the creditworthiness of potential clients, setting credit limits, and monitoring loan portfolios. A Credit Manager’s decisions directly affect the financial stability and profitability of a company, making their role crucial to business success. With a strong analytical mindset and excellent communication skills, the Credit Manager liaises with various departments to ensure that credit policies align with the company’s overall objectives. Responsibilities

  • Assess the creditworthiness of clients based on financial data and credit history.
  • Develop, implement, and enhance credit policies and procedures across the organization.
  • Monitor client accounts to evaluate regular payment patterns and identify potential risks.
  • Collate and analyze financial reports, trends, and ratios for effective decision-making.
  • Establish credit limits by considering the financial status and characteristics of clients.
  • Review and adjust credit limits and terms in accordance with company policies.
  • Liaise with sales and finance teams to align credit operations with organizational goals.
  • Prepare detailed credit analysis and approval recommendations for senior management.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and market conditions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients to foster trust and accountability.
  • Train and mentor junior credit team members, providing insights and guidance.
  • Handle escalated issues regarding credit disputes and develop resolutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required.
  • Proven work experience as a Credit Manager or similar role for at least 5 years.
  • Strong understanding of credit-related laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills for effective client relations.
  • Ability to make rational decisions in high-pressure environments and meet deadlines.
