Responsibilities

• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnosis and coding queries.
• Conduct coding audits to ensure accuracy and completeness of medical records.
• Identify and report discrepancies or inconsistencies in coding data and documentation.
• Keep abreast of updates to coding systems and healthcare regulations and guidelines.
• Assist with the maintenance and updating of coding procedure manuals and guidelines.
• Liaise with insurance companies to facilitate billing and resolve reimbursement issues.
• Provide training and support to new employees on medical coding practices.
• Prepare detailed reports on coding activities, issues, and improvements.
• Safeguard the confidentiality and security of patient health information and records.

Requirements

• Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent is required.
• Experience managing medical records and performing accurate medical coding tasks.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology required.
• Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and coding software systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high accuracy under pressure.
