Job Description

A Credit Controller plays a pivotal role in managing the credit risk of a company. They are responsible for assessing credit applications and ensuring timely payment from clients while maintaining positive relationships. Credit Controllers help in the smooth operation of businesses by managing and controlling their accounts receivable processes efficiently. They ensure that policies and procedures are adhered to while also making strategic decisions when it comes to approving or rejecting credit applications. Good negotiation skills, a keen eye for detail, and an ability to handle pressure adeptly are imperative for success in this role. Credit Controllers are integral to preventing financial discrepancies and maintaining the organization's longevity and profitability.


Responsibilities

  • Assess new credit requests and conduct client credit checks for decision-making.
  • Perform regular evaluations of existing clients to ensure creditworthiness.
  • Negotiate payment plans with clients to recover unpaid debts efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate records of all credit transactions and client communication.
  • Work collaboratively with the sales team to ensure seamless transactions.
  • Follow up on overdue invoices and accounts to safeguard cash flow.
  • Implement strategies for bad debt recovery and minimize credit risk.
  • Provide regular reports on credit management to senior management teams.
  • Develop and enforce credit policies and procedures in line with company standards.
  • Resolve client billing issues and disputed invoices in a professional manner.
  • Utilize financial software to manage and monitor credit-related tasks.
  • Support finance teams in forecasting cash flows based on credit analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a business-related field.
  • Proven experience as a Credit Controller or similar actuarial role.
  • Strong negotiation skills with adept problem-solving abilities under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client interactions.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Ability to evaluate and understand financial data and credit reports.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple accounts efficiently.
