The role of a Credit Control Supervisor is pivotal within the finance department, responsible for overseeing the credit control team's operations and ensuring the efficient functioning of all credit control procedures. The Credit Control Supervisor spearheads the effort to reduce aged debts, enhance company cash flow, and minimize the risk of bad debt, by leading and mentoring a team of credit control professionals. They manage relationships with clients to ensure timely follow-up on outstanding invoices while also addressing any discrepancies or issues that could impede collections. This position requires a strategic mind to foster improvements across credit policies and collaborate with various departments to meet financial objectives effectively. A successful Credit Control Supervisor excels in both analytical and leadership capacities and is adept at maintaining a fine balance between risk management and client relations.


Responsibilities

  • Monitor and oversee day-to-day operations of the credit control team.
  • Develop and implement sound credit control policies to manage risk.
  • Conduct regular reviews and reconciliations of customer accounts.
  • Handle escalated issues from clients and devise effective solutions.
  • Prepare detailed reports on debt status and collection progress weekly.
  • Coordinate with sales and finance teams to resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Establish effective communication lines with clients for timely payments.
  • Train staff on credit control procedures and adherence to company policy.
  • Foster a professional and productive team environment for success.
  • Analyze credit information to identify potential risks and mitigate them.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal guidelines.
  • Aid the finance department in achieving overall financial targets annually.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field required.
  • Proven experience in credit control, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Excellent analytical skills to interpret financial data accurately.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required for effective team management.
  • Proficiency in using financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations tactfully and diplomatically.
  • Exceptional organizational skills for managing multiple priorities efficiently.
