Job Description

The Construction Manager is a pivotal role in the building industry, responsible for overseeing and coordinating construction projects from inception through completion. This role entails managing the planning, coordination, budgeting, and supervision of construction projects to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and comply with building and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of construction methods and technologies, and the ability to navigate and manage complex projects. They will be a key point of contact for clients, architects, and engineers, ensuring that all aspects of the project align with the company's goals and customer expectations. Flexibility, problem-solving skills, and effective communication abilities are crucial for success in this dynamic field.


Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage construction project timelines, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Supervise construction activities ensuring work meets the company's standards.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to avoid project conflicts.
  • Develop and adhere to project budgets, minimizing costly overruns.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal building codes and regulations.
  • Monitor project progress daily and implement adjustments for efficiency.
  • Negotiate contracts with subcontractors to secure quality work for fair prices.
  • Prepare and present project progress reports to clients and senior management.
  • Implement and enforce health and safety protocols to safeguard workers and the environment.
  • Resolve any issues or disruptions that arise during the construction process.
  • Approve materials and equipment used to ensure they meet project specifications.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff by providing training and growth opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and legislation.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale construction projects successfully.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse teams.
  • Proficient with construction project management software and other relevant tools.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to maintain stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
