Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Commis I to join our dynamic kitchen team. As a Commis I, you will play a crucial role in supporting the kitchen operations, assisting in food preparation, and ensuring that our culinary standards are maintained at all times. Working under the guidance of the Chef de Partie, your enthusiasm for cooking and commitment to delivering high-quality dishes will be paramount. Responsibilities

  • Assist senior chefs with food preparation and basic cooking tasks.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations at all times.
  • Measure and prepare ingredients according to recipe specifications.
  • Ensure all food items are properly stored and labeled according to safety standards.
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as mixers, ovens, and grills skillfully.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations in the kitchen environment.
  • Support in plating and presentation of dishes for service.
  • Monitor inventory levels and notify supervisors of shortages or needs.
  • Participate in scheduled training programs to enhance cooking skills.
  • Assist in receiving and inspecting deliveries for quality and quantity assurance.
  • Provide feedback or suggestions to improve kitchen workflows and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a similar role within a busy kitchen environment.
  • Basic understanding of culinary techniques and kitchen operations.
  • A recognized culinary certificate or diploma will be advantageous.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Strong team player with a proactive and positive work attitude.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards in a culinary setting.
