Job Description

A Bank Teller serves as the primary point of contact for customers at a bank branch, providing essential services that support the institution's operations. As a bank teller, you will be entrusted with handling money, performing financial transactions, and delivering excellent customer service. You will manage various financial operations such as deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements. The role requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to handle transactions promptly and effectively. A bank teller should possess excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate clearly with diverse individuals. The role also involves maintaining confidentiality about customer accounts and transactions while maintaining a positive relationship with clients.


Responsibilities

  • Handle cash transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and payments, with precision and accuracy.
  • Assist customers in resolving discrepancies or issues related to their bank accounts.
  • Provide clients with information about banking products and services offered by the institution.
  • Balance cash drawers at the beginning and end of each shift to verify amounts.
  • Ensure compliance with all bank policies, procedures, and federal regulations during transactions.
  • Promote bank products and services to customers and potential clients when applicable.
  • Identify and report any suspicious or fraudulent activities to security or management immediately.
  • Process loan payments, utility payments, and other bank-related transactions as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure the efficiency of day-to-day operations.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relations through exceptional service and communication.
  • Assist with the onboarding of new clients, ensuring all documentation is properly completed.
  • Contribute to the overall performance of the branch by meeting set sales and efficiency targets.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college education is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a customer service or cash handling role is advantageous.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a friendly demeanor.
  • Strong mathematical skills and the ability to perform basic financial calculations.
  • Familiarity with bank practices and protocols, including compliance regulations.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using computers and familiarity with banking software and applications.
