An Assistant Nurse plays a crucial role in the healthcare setting by providing essential support to registered nurses and physicians in delivering patient care. Responsibilities

  • Assist registered nurses and physicians with daily patient care tasks and procedures.
  • Monitor patient vital signs, such as temperature, blood pressure, and heart rate regularly.
  • Provide patients with personal hygiene assistance, including bathing, dressing, and toileting.
  • Help transport and transfer patients to different areas within the healthcare facility.
  • Support registered nurses in administering medications as per the instructions provided.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures following established protocols and guidelines.
  • Record patient information in their files and update electronic medical records accurately.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to understand their needs and concerns clearly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in patient rooms and nursing areas consistently.
  • Respond to patient call signals, bells, or intercom systems to determine patients’ needs promptly.
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to plan and execute patient care activities.
  • Educate patients and their families about appropriate home care practices and health maintenance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification as a nursing assistant preferred.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare environment is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Physical stamina and strength are required for long shifts and frequent lifting of patients.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Empathy and patience to effectively address and support patient needs and concerns.
  • Proficiency in using healthcare software for updating and maintaining patient records.
