Airline Ground Service Equipment Operator

The Airline Ground Service Equipment Operator plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of ground support equipment at an airport. They are responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of various equipment, such as baggage carts, tugs, and fuel trucks. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent hand-eye coordination, and the ability to follow strict safety protocols. The Airline Ground Service Equipment Operator must also possess good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate ground support equipment in accordance with airline and airport regulations.
• Conduct pre- and post-flight inspections of equipment to ensure safety and functionality.
• Load and unload baggage and cargo onto aircraft using appropriate equipment.
• Secure cargo and ensure proper weight distribution.
• Refuel aircraft and perform fuel quality checks.
• Assist with ground power unit (GPU) and air conditioning unit (ACU) operations.
• Transport passengers, crew, and equipment to and from aircraft.
• Monitor equipment performance and report any issues or malfunctions.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance activities.
• Follow safety procedures and protocols to minimize accidents and injuries.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience operating ground service equipment in an airline or airport setting.
• Knowledge of FAA regulations and safety guidelines.
• Ability to operate equipment such as baggage carts, tugs, and fuel trucks.
• Strong hand-eye coordination and physical stamina.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Basic mechanical and troubleshooting abilities.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Flexibility to work different shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to pass a background check and obtain necessary security clearances.
