Job Description

An Accounting Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of a company by managing daily accounting tasks. They are responsible for providing accurate financial information, assisting with budget preparations, and ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations. This role requires collaboration with the finance team and other departments to maintain a smooth and accurate workflow. An Accounting Assistant needs to have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively. The position requires proficiency in accounting software and a solid understanding of accounting principles. The role is often a stepping stone to more advanced positions in the accounting and finance fields and provides valuable on-the-job experience.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of daily financial transactions within accounting software.
  • Support the monthly and yearly closing processes by collecting and reconciling data.
  • Handle accounts receivable and accounts payable tasks, including processing invoices and payments.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and help in the preparation for audits.
  • Reconcile discrepancies in accounts and prepare reporting for management review.
  • Assist with the preparation and monitoring of budgets and forecasts.
  • Provide administrative support by managing documents and organizing files for audit purposes.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure accurate financial data reporting.
  • Review and update financial records following company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify areas for improvement in financial procedures and suggest enhancements.
  • Support the finance department with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • At least 1–2 years of experience in an accounting or finance environment.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Excel, and SAP.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with financial data handling.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic finance team.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to detect financial discrepancies.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting financial information clearly.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines efficiently.
