Job Description

An Accountant plays a crucial role in managing financial records and ensuring the accuracy of financial statements within an organization. The role involves collecting, tracking, and correcting the company’s finances. Accountants are responsible for a wide range of finance-related tasks, primarily to ensure the financial compliance and health of the company. This position demands a meticulous individual who possesses strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Equipped with an eye for details, the Accountant will identify trends and provide insights to assist management decisions. The role requires working closely with other departments, providing them with financial insights and helping with budgetary requirements. An excellent accountant should have integrity, business acumen, and experience in financial reporting.


Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and complete financial records in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prepare and examine financial reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Analyze financial data and forecast future financial performance for the organization.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures for operational efficiency.
  • Perform audits of financial transactions and documentation to ensure accuracy.
  • Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity levels.
  • Assist in the preparation of budget plans and monitor expenditures against budgets.
  • Generate invoices and manage accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during annual audit activities and reporting.
  • Advise management on tax strategies, financial planning, and cost savings initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with provincial and federal government regulations and policies.
  • Mentor and support junior accounting staff in their daily accounting functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
  • Proven experience as an accountant or in a similar financial role.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or SAP.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities are a must.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on accuracy.
