Technical Designer plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between design and development within the Design System team. This role exists to ensure that high-fidelity design concepts are effectively translated into interactive, accessible, and production-ready components that scale across the bank’s digital ecosystem.

As a contributor, the job holder combines strong front-end development skills with design sensitivity—supporting both designers and engineers to create consistent, high-quality user experiences. By embedding within agile squads and contributing to the evolution of the design system. The Technical Designer enables faster delivery, increased design fidelity, and seamless handoffs, thereby reducing development bottlenecks and enhancing cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate high-fidelity UI designs into interactive, coded UI components. Align with design tokens, design intent, and platform guidelines.
  • Build and maintain coded UI components for the Design System (web/mobile). Maintain consistency, scalability, and quality.
  • Develop performant, accessible, and responsive interfaces following WCAG 2.1 standards, RTL, and localisation guidelines
  • Contribute to design–dev automation (e.g. Style Dictionary, token integration, Figma plugins). Maintain CI/CD workflows where applicable.
  • Document components, tokens, usage guidelines and contribute to system standards using tools like Storybook and design system docs.
  • Collaborate with squads/tribes in sprints, grooming, and QA. Partner with front-end devs, designers, and PMs to deliver UI work.
  • Review implementation of designs, flag gaps, suggest improvements, and propose refactors or enhancements proactively.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HCI, interaction design, computer science, or related field
  • Additional training or certifications in front-end development, design systems, or accessibility standards
  • 2–5 years in front-end development, UX engineering, or technical product design
  • Experience working in large-scale digital organisations; experience within MENA region is a plus
  • HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript, GitHub, Figma, Storybook, Style Dictionary, WCAG, CI/CD workflows, iOS (Swift UI) or Android (Compose)
  • Analytical mindset, attention to detail, systems thinking.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration, excellent communication skills.
  • Self-starter, proactive, open to feedback, growth mindset.
