Freelance Illustrator

A new concrete company based in Chicago, IL is seeking a skilled illustrator or character designer to create a cartoon panda mascot for its brand. The mascot should balance the strength and reliability associated with construction while remaining approachable and friendly for homeowners. The design will be used across logos, uniforms, trucks, and digital platforms, requiring a modern, bold, and versatile style. Deliverables include a full-color version, a simplified black-and-white version, and potentially additional character poses or expressions, all provided in high-resolution vector formats. The preferred timeline is for initial sketches within 1–2 weeks and final deliverables within 2–4 weeks, though flexibility is possible.

Requirements

• Proven experience in character or mascot design, demonstrated through a strong portfolio
• Proficiency in vector illustration and file preparation (AI, EPS, SVG formats)
• Ability to design for both color and black-and-white applications
• Experience creating branding-focused illustrations with clean, bold lines
• Comfortable incorporating construction-themed elements (e.g., hard hat, tools)
• Strong attention to detail and creativity to develop a unique, memorable character
• Willingness to collaborate, take feedback, and make revisions
• Availability to deliver initial sketches within 1–2 weeks and final artwork within 2–4 weeks
