Aldar Education are currently looking for UAE National School Counsellors (Social & Emotional) to support our growing family of owned and operated schools in the UAE.

The Social and Emotional Counsellor will assist students develop emotional intelligence, cope with stress[SH1] , and build healthy relationships. Their main purpose is to support emotional well-being and social development by providing guidance, counseling, and strategies for managing emotions, behavior, and interpersonal challenges.
Responsibilities
Main Duties:
- Help students enhance personal, social, and academic growth and wellbeing
- Monitor the progress of individual students and provide necessary interventions.
- Communicate with parents to discuss student behaviour or support needs
- Take steps to prevent bullying and support victims of bullying
- Assist students in understanding and managing social, behaviour, and personal problems
- Deliver therapeutic intervention based on the need of the individuals and provide referral to external services as needed
- Emphasize preventive and developmental counselling to provide students with life skills needed to deal with problems before they worsen and to enhance students’ personal, social, and academic growth[SH1]
- Collaborate with the Safeguarding and Child Protection Team
- Work closely with the Inclusion Team
Specific Duties:
- Support individual and group sessions on social, emotional and development issues.
- Maintain an awareness of cultural influences regarding social development of adolescents and deliver culturally sensitive therapies
- Monitor students who may be at risk in regards to social and emotional issues and in consultation with the CPC and/or Head of Inclusion,, make appropriate referrals for interventions outside of school in consultation with parents.
- Promote wellbeing of students via whole school and community awareness initiatives.
- Work closely with the pastoral team and safeguarding leads to promote the safety and happiness of students..
Emotional Support: Help individuals navigate personal challenges such as stress, anxiety, grief, or trauma.
Social Skills Development: Teach communication, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills.
Behavioral Guidance: Assist students in managing emotions, self-regulation, and impulse control.
Mental Health Awareness: Identify signs of mental health concerns and provide referralsif necessary.
Crisis Intervention: Offer immediate support during emotional crises or conflicts.
Collaboration: Work with teachers, parents, employers, and social workers to create supportive environments
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Counselling/ Bachelor of Psychology
- DOH Approval
- Department of Community Development (DCD)
Minimum Experience:
- Minimum of 2 experience in school counselling or other counselling experience required
Job Specific Knowledge & Skills:
- Appropriate license to carryout student counselling- DOH approval
- Strong interpersonal skills with both students and parents
- Demonstrable organizational skills
- Strong desire to help others and should be able to inspire respect, trust, and confidence
- Must possess high emotional and physical energy to handle the array of problems addressed
- Maintains the highest levels of confidentiality and professionalism
