Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides specialized care to critically ill patients who require close monitoring and a high level of nursing expertise. These patients often have life-threatening health conditions that necessitate the skilled application of advanced medical techniques and procedures. The RN plays a critical role in the care plan, collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes. As a Registered Nurse in the ICU, you will be expected to deliver urgent and complex care in a fast-paced and resource-intensive environment. This position requires a high level of clinical skill, vigilance, and compassion, as you will be managing patients with varied health issues, using sophisticated equipment, and responding promptly to changing patient conditions.


Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assess patients' vital signs and medical conditions continuously.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and protocols.
  • Coordinate with physicians and healthcare team to create patient care plans.
  • Provide advanced life support measures including CPR and defibrillation as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient medical records and documentation.
  • Ensure proper functioning and calibration of intensive care monitoring equipment.
  • Educate patients and families about the care process and post-ICU recovery.
  • Assist with complex procedures such as intubation, ventilation, and catheterization.
  • Support and mentor junior nurses and nursing students during clinical rotations.
  • Respond rapidly to emergency situations and initiate life-saving interventions.
  • Ensure adherence to hospital standards, safety procedures, and quality care goals.
  • Participate in continuous education and training programs to enhance nursing skills.

Requirements

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license .
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of two years’ nursing experience, with at least a year in intensive care.
  • Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and basic life support (BLS) certifications.
  • Strong critical-thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills in high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent communication skills for patient and family interactions and report deliveries.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and demonstrate leadership when required.
