Quantity Surveyor

The Quantity Surveyor plays a crucial role in managing all costs related to building and civil engineering projects, from initial estimates to final accounts. The position requires ensuring that construction projects are completed within budget while maintaining high standards of quality and legal compliance. A successful Quantity Surveyor combines technical competence with strong financial acumen and negotiation skills to control expenses and maximize value for money.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities (BOQ).

• Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis for construction projects.

• Evaluate and manage subcontractor and supplier quotations and contracts.

• Monitor and track project costs throughout the construction lifecycle.

• Administer contract terms, variations, and claims.

• Provide accurate and timely financial reports and forecasts.

• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and project managers to ensure cost-effective solutions.

• Assess project risks and advise on cost-control strategies.

• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and contractual standards.

• Conduct site visits to verify work progress and validate claims.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.

• At least 5 years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably in the UAE.

• Solid understanding of construction methodologies and market rates.

• Proficient in cost management tools and MS Excel; knowledge of Primavera or similar software is a plus.

• Strong analytical and numerical skills.

• Familiarity with FIDIC and other contract forms.

• Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.

• Attention to detail with strong organizational skills.

• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
