Job Description

A Quantity Surveyor plays a critical role in the construction industry, effectively managing and overseeing the financial and legal aspects of construction projects. They are responsible for ensuring the project remains within budget while providing quality work in accordance with the initial design and specifications. This role requires an individual to have a strong understanding of construction methodologies, excellent mathematical skills, and a keen eye for detail. A Quantity Surveyor collaborates with engineers, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to successfully deliver projects while maintaining compliance with all contractual and regulatory requirements. They analyze costs, manage risks, and strive to achieve the highest value for the expenditure. This position is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, analytically minded, and capable of managing multiple tasks effectively.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and provide preliminary cost estimates for construction projects.
  • Manage and monitor project budgets and financial controls effectively.
  • Negotiate with contractors and suppliers to obtain the best prices.
  • Measure and value work done on site and prepare full project reports.
  • Assess and value any variations or changes in the construction project.
  • Collect and analyze financial data to ensure budget compliance.
  • Prepare detailed contract documents, including bills of quantities.
  • Coordinate with various teams to ensure timely project completion.
  • Assess potential risks and develop risk mitigation strategies effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of all project-related financial transactions.
  • Liaise with clients to ensure requirements and expectations are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings proficiently.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills with a client-focused approach.
  • Proficiency in relevant software such as MS Excel and construction management tools.
