Network Security Engineer (225-903)

A Network Security Engineer plays a crucial role in protecting an organization's computer systems and networks from cyber threats and unauthorized access. This position requires a deep understanding of network security protocols, firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection systems, and other security tools. The engineer is responsible for developing and implementing security measures, monitoring for potential breaches, and responding to network security incidents. Responsibilities

• Design and implement network security solutions to protect sensitive data and systems.
• Monitor network traffic for suspicious activities and respond to security incidents promptly.
• Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability testing on the organization's networks.
• Install and maintain firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other security tools.
• Develop and enforce security policies and procedures across the organization.
• Collaborate with IT teams to integrate security measures into all network and system designs.
• Provide guidance and recommendations on emerging security threats and vulnerabilities.
• Maintain detailed documentation of security configurations and incidents for audit purposes.
• Perform security training sessions for staff to promote awareness and compliance.
• Research and implement new security technologies to enhance existing security protocols.
• Generate reports on security metrics and provide insights to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience in network security engineering or a similar role in cybersecurity.
• Strong knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection systems, and encryption methods.
• Experience with security technologies and platforms, such as SIEM and threat intelligence.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze and mitigate security risks.
• Outstanding communication skills for liaising between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH are highly desirable.
