Job Description

The MEP Document Controller plays a vital role in the construction and engineering sectors, focusing on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. This role involves managing and organizing engineering documents, ensuring document security, and tracking the flow of documentation throughout various departments. The MEP Document Controller helps maintain an efficient documentation system, contributing to the smooth operation of projects. This position ensures that all documents are accurate, up-to-date, and fulfilled within the regulatory requirements. The MEP Document Controller works closely with engineering teams, project managers, and other stakeholders to facilitate seamless communication and efficient project execution.


Responsibilities

  • Manage the receipt, registration, and distribution of all MEP documents effectively.
  • Ensure the proper archiving and retrieval of all project-related documentation.
  • Maintain updated records of all approved documents and drawings and their distribution.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure compliance with document management procedures.
  • Monitor document revisions and manage revision control to ensure all are current and up-to-date.
  • Facilitate effective document handover from project sites to database or archives.
  • Support project managers by providing all necessary document-related support and resources.
  • Provide training and support to staff on document control systems and procedures.
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information as required by management.
  • Ensure documents are stored safely and backed up regularly to prevent loss.
  • Interface with external contractors and suppliers for document submissions and approval processes.
  • Contribute to the standardization of document control procedures across all projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, management, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in document control, quality assurance, or a similar role.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in document management software such as Aconex or Primavera.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Knowledge of MEP systems and the construction industry's documentation standards.
  • Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
