We are expanding our digital capabilities across the Middle East. We are seeking a GIS Associate to join our dynamic team of geospatial professionals. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile infrastructure projects, including roads, rail, aviation and urban development initiatives.
Role Overview
As a GIS Associate, you will support the integration and management of geospatial data to assist in the planning and execution of infrastructure projects. Working under the guidance of senior GIS professionals, you will contribute to data collection, spatial analysis, and map production, helping ensure the accuracy and usability of geospatial information across project teams.
Key Responsibilities
Geospatial Data Support
Assist in collecting, cleaning, and organizing geospatial data from various sources.
Maintain and update spatial databases under supervision, ensuring data consistency and accuracy.
Apply metadata standards and naming conventions.
Mapping & Visualization
Create clear and informative maps and graphics using GIS software for internal reports and presentations.
Support thematic mapping and cartographic design tasks.
Assist to convert CAD and BIM files into GIS formats with guidance from senior staff.
Spatial Analysis
Perform basic spatial queries and analysis (e.g., buffer, clip, intersect) to support project needs.
Assist in analyzing utility and infrastructure data for planning and reporting.
Project Collaboration
Work closely with GIS Specialists, engineers, and planners to support project workflows.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to data-related discussions.
Software & Tools Usage
Use GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, QGIS, and Google Earth.
Learn and apply basic tools like Model Builder and Python scripts for automation tasks.
Quality Assurance
Conduct routine data checks and validations to ensure spatial accuracy.
Document data sources and processing steps for transparency and reproducibility.
Learning & Development
Engage in training sessions and workshops to build GIS skills.
Stay updated on new tools and techniques in the geospatial field.
Heres what youll need
Qualifications & Skills
Education Bachelor’s degree or diploma in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Experience 2 - 5 years of experience in GIS or geospatial data handling. Internship or academic project experience is a plus.
Technical Proficiency
Knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and QGIS.
Familiarity with spatial data formats (e.g., shapefiles, Geodatabases).
Exposure to CAD/GIS integration and basic Python scripting is desirable.
