Job Description

A General Accountant plays a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity of an organization. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance. The General Accountant is responsible for managing all aspects of the general ledger, conducting thorough financial analysis, preparing accurate financial statements, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements. Working closely with the finance team, they ensure that financial records are maintained accurately, receive regular updates, and that discrepancies are resolved promptly. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities are essential attributes for success in this role. Furthermore, the General Accountant is expected to provide insights for financial planning and aid in budgeting and forecasting processes, ultimately supporting the organization's financial health and strategic objectives.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in compliance with processes.
  • Execute monthly, quarterly, and annual closings in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Analyze financial statements and present findings to senior management teams.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial and regulatory reports for external use.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable in accordance with established protocols.
  • Conduct account reconciliations to maintain accurate ledger and reporting status.
  • Handle the budgeting process in collaboration with department leaders and management.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and standards.
  • Support the audit process by preparing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Monitor cash flow activities and ensure adequate funds availability for operations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in accounting processes.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to assist in strategic decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field mandatory.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant accounting experience required.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with all organizational levels.
  • Experience with ERP systems preferred, providing a strategic advantage.
