Job Description

Edelman Smithfield is a global financial communications firm with the power and scope of Edelman, the world’s largest integrated communications company. We specialize in financial markets and strategic situations, serving clients in the United States, Canada, EMEA, APAC, and beyond. Edelman Smithfield offers a deep and talented bench of approximately 250 financial market specialists across more than 25 cities and 15 countries.

Edelman Smithfield advises senior leaders and management teams navigating complex matters that impact reputation and valuation and has deep expertise in serving and communicating to the financial markets.

We are looking for an experienced and versatile Copywriter to join our team on a three-year secondment with one of our most valued financial clients in the UAE. Based in Abu Dhabi, this is an in-house role embedded within the client’s team while staying closely connected to Edelman Smithfield’s broader global network.

This role is ideal for a creative communicator with a keen business sensibility, financial acumen, and a passion for delivering high-quality content at pace. If you thrive on translating complex information into compelling copy and want to work with an organisation shaping the region’s financial future, we’d love to hear from you.

Who You Are

  • A skilled English writer with a background in business, finance, or corporate communications, able to deliver impactful copy under tight deadlines.
  • Confident working directly with senior client stakeholders and able to quickly grasp institutional tone, brand guidelines, and business priorities.
  • A collaborative team player with an agency mindset, comfortable juggling multiple workstreams and feedback loops.
  • Based in or open to relocating to Abu Dhabi for the duration of the assignment.

What You’ll Do

  • Craft clear, engaging content across multiple formats including press releases, white papers, opinion editorials, speeches, internal comms, and social media copy.
  • Act as the primary editorial lead within the client’s team, while maintaining strong alignment with Edelman Smithfield’s editorial, strategy, and client service teams.
  • Collaborate with senior business and communications stakeholders to shape narratives and deliver messaging that aligns with brand voice and strategic goals.
  • Edit and enhance existing content to ensure clarity, tone, and message consistency.
  • Contribute to ideation and creative development, bringing a storytelling lens to complex topics.

What We’re Looking For

  • 4 to 6 years of professional writing experience, ideally within an agency or corporate communications environment.
  • Native-level fluency in English is a must; Arabic language skills are a strong plus.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing business writing, thought leadership, and editorial content.
  • Ability to balance creativity with precision, and manage multiple assignments on short timelines.
  • Familiarity with financial services, banking, or corporate institutions is highly desirable.

We are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t perfectly align with every qualification, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
